MANILA – Catriona Gray continues to use social media to spread positivity as she marked the start of a new decade.
Through a letter to her 15-year-old self, the beauty queen recalled her own feelings about her cancer-stricken father and not knowing what to do with her life.
Now 25, Gray told her younger self to “trust in the process.”
“To my 15-year-old self: Firstly, don’t be scared, daddy is going to beat the cancer. I know it seems scary now, but he will still be by your side 10 years later, still singing along to Elvis tunes in the car and stealing all the chocolate from the fridge,” she said.
“I know you’re beginning to feel the pressure of expecting to know what to do with your life. You won’t find it for a few years, but it’s okay. But please be kind and patient with yourself. Like you’ve always done, you’ll place the weight of the world on your shoulders. Trust in the process,” added Gray in the post, which showed photos of her in the past decade.
“Eventually, you’ll discover work that you love that makes you feel fulfilled. And it’s nothing that you’d expected, but it’s greater than you’ve ever, ever dreamed. Never, ever lose your faith. Sincerely, me.”
In previous interviews, Gray has repeatedly said that her life has changed dramatically after winning the Miss Universe crown in 2018.
She has been aiming to use pageantry and her wide social media reach to inspire others and push for her youth-oriented causes.
