Now it can be revealed: Catriona Gray has been in Manila throughout the holiday season following her crowning as Miss Universe — and now she’s set to start her reign in New York.

On Instagram on Wednesday, Gray finally shared her first new photo since winning the Philippines’ fourth crown from the pageant.

Sporting a jacket from Bomberong, a line of barong-inspired bomber jackets by designer Jor-El Espina, Gray is seen posing with her luggage, notably emblazoned with an emblem depiction of the Philippine flag.

“Refreshed from a quiet holiday season with my loved ones, I’ve packed up my home in Manila and now I’m ready to move to my new home in New York City! I still can’t believe it!” she said.

Gray, 24, returned to the Philippines last December 19 for a charity event. She then appeared inactive on social media, fans noticed, with no mention of her further activities as Miss Universe. Some followers speculated she immediately flew to New York, the official home of the reigning queen, and would spend her holidays there.

It turns out, based on Gray’s update on Wednesday, that she opted for some time away from the limelight as she celebrated Christmas and New Year with her family in Manila.

Addressing her nearly four million followers, Gray wrote: “I have to say I’m most nervous about experiencing the chill of NYC in winter but would love to know, what are your recommendations to see, do and eat?! Let me know in the comments below!”

Gray, whose winning performance in Miss Universe included a first-of-its-kind patriotic wardrobe, appears to be bringing the same effort into her international reign as a constant reminder of her being a “proud Filipina.”
