Duterte: Some questions at UPLB forum were 'a bit silly'

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday addressed criticisms that he did not give straight and concrete answers during a forum at the University of the Philippines, Los Baños on Friday.

The presidential candidate of the PDP-Laban said some questions in the forum were "a bit silly."

"For example, one was asking why the guns of the Army [in Davao] look better than the rest of the soldiers he saw around in Mindanao. I was about to tell him you do not have be a smart aleck," he said.

"We do not supply the arms of the Army. It's the Armed Forces of the Philippines [which does that]. They are just deployed in the city by the Armed Forces, by the contingencies of the moment. We have nothing to do with the army of anyone here... Ayaw ko namang hiyain."

Meanwhile, aspiring president Senator Grace Poe and her running mate Senator Francis Escudero held a convention on election laws for legal volunteers and professionals.

The tandem aimed to ensure that there will be no more legal gridlocks against Poe, especially on election day, after the Supreme Court junked the disqualification cases against her.

Vice President Jejomar Binay, for his part, took his presidential campaign to several markets in Ilocos Sur where he spoke briefly before the crowd and pressed hands with vendors.

He also attended the funeral of Evelyn Singson, the wife of former Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson.
