Pacquiao part of 'Magic 12' in early results


MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is part of the Senate Magic 12, according to the partial and unofficial results transmitted by the Commission on Elections to ABS-CBN.

As of 5:50 p.m. on May 9, Pacquiao is ranked ninth among Senatorial candidates, amassing 1,309,077 votes with 6.59% of registered votes already counted.

Leading the way is former TESDA chief Joel Villanueva with 771,560 votes, followed by senators Frank Drilon (758,717) and Vicente Sotto III (729,143).

The boxer, who retired last April after beating Timothy Bradley Jr., consistently placed in the Magic 12 in the surveys leading up to the elections.
