The camp of Senator Grace Poe on Tuesday thanked the Supreme Court (SC) for its swift action temporarily stopping her disqualification from next year's presidential race despite being on recess for the holidays.

Poe's counsel George Garcia said they were pleasantly surprised the temporary restraining orders (TROs) were released on the same day they sought it.

"We were so happy. We did not expect the Supreme Court will be that swift in granting our prayer for TRO. But that of course is a blessing," Garcia said.

The lawyer admitted they had no back-up plan if the high court had not issued the TROs on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc rulings.

"Take note of the statement of Director James Jimenez yesterday, it did not affect the Comelec. So why expedite the decision of the Grace Poe case? Lucky for us that we were able to get a TRO. What if the other way around happened? What if we were not able to get a TRO yesterday? We have no plan B, we have no plan C. It's only plan A," Garcia said.
