MANILA - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has declared presidential aspirant Rizalito David a nuisance candidate.

In a resolution promulgated by the Comelec Second Division on December 3, the poll body said that David "misrepresented himself to be officially nominated by the Kapatiran Party when in truth and in fact, Kapatiran Party, through its President Norman Cabrera informed this Department that said party is not fielding candidates in the 2016 elections."

The Comelec also said that David, who listed his occupation as a broadcaster, will not be able to finance a nationwide campaign.

"While such is a noble way to earn a living, a clear proof however of his financial capability to run a nationwide campaign is absent," the petition read.

David is one of the petitioners who filed a disqualification case against Senator Grace Poe, who is running for president in next year's elections.
