MMDA chief Tolentino to run for Senate
MANILA – Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chief Francis Tolentino is joining the 2016 senatorial race.
During a gathering of Cavite politicians at a restaurant along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City, Tolentino said he has received the blessings of President Aquino.
Tolentino will run under the ruling Liberal Party (LP).
The MMDA chief, a former Tagaytay City mayor, has the support of Cavite political clans and leaders, including the Revillas, Remullas, and Maliksi. Tagaytay is in Cavite province.
Tolentino said 23 mayors, 7 congressmen, and 23 vice mayors from Cavite are backing his candidacy. – report from Jeff Gallos, dzMM
