Robredo, Marcos to offer Masses amid close VP race


MANILA - Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo and Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. are set to offer Holy Masses on Sunday amid the tightly contested vice-presidential race.

In a Facebook post, Robredo said the Mass will be held "for a successful and peaceful elections and the call to unite and move forward."

Her daughter, Aika Robredo, will lead the praying of rosary before the Eucharistic Celebration at the Church of the Gesu, Ateneo de Manila University at 3 p.m.

Marcos will likewise offer a Mass today at the Baclaran Church in Roxas Boulevard in ParaƱaque.

Robredo on Sunday continued to lead Marcos by some 200,000 votes, based on 96.09 percent of votes that were transmitted to the poll body's transparency server.

The only son and namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos has refused to concede to Robredo and raised the possibility of cheating to favor the administration candidate.

Their other rivals, Senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Francis Escudero, Antonio Trillanes IV and Gregorio Honasan, have accepted defeat.
