MANILA - "Let God's Will be done. God bless us all!"

This was the terse statement from Senator Sergio Osmeña III, who has been trailing in the polls as he seeks re-election in the Upper Chamber.

As of 12:59 p.m. Tuesday, partial and unofficial results show Osmeña in 14th place with 11,925,542 votes.

Osmeña is one of two re-electionists who may not be on track for a new Senate term. Senator Teofisto "TG" Guingona III currently ranks 17th with 9,643,109 votes.

Meanwhile, former Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla, who is also trailing at 18th place with 6,617,691 votes so far, said the Senate race was "a battle worth fighting for."

Petilla thanked his family, friends and volunteers who supported him in his candidacy and all throughout his campaign.

"In life, we choose our battles and the Senate race was a battle worth fighting for," he said in a Facebook post.

"We ran with a clear platform and we are glad our voice was heard. Be assured that our battle does not end here. We will take a step back but we will continue our advocacies. Again, thank you for the trust."
