SWS disowns survey showing Binay bouncing back

MANILA – Polling firm Social Weather Stations (SWS) has disowned surveys showing Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte shedding points and Vice President Jejomar Binay gaining some.

In a statement, SWS said it did not conduct any survey from April 20-23.

''Social Weather Stations hereby informs the public that it has not conducted any survey on voter preferences during the period of April 20-23, 2016, as stated in the SMS messages being passed around, reported in some radio programs, and posted in social media yesterday,'' the SWS said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

''Everyone is reminded to rely only on the SWS website at http://www.sws.org.ph for its official media releases and public reports."

The survey results posted by Facebook page ''BoodleNews'' shows Binay gaining 9 percentage points (14% to 23%) and Duterte shedding 6 (33% to 27%). Another post by Facebook page ''Binay Pa Rin 2016'' also shows the same result.

In the last SWS survey conducted on April 18-20, Duterte saw his voter preference rating rise to 33% from the previous 27%.

His nearest rival, Sen. Grace Poe, has a 24% voter preference rating, up one percentage point from the previous poll.

Administration standard bearer Mar Roxas is in third place with 19%, while Vice-President Jejomar Binay dropped to fourth place with 14%.

Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago is in last place with 2%.
