Binay: Duterte apology insincere
MANILA – Vice President Jejomar Binay is not impressed with Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's apology over his comments about an Australian rape-slay victim.
The vice president issued this statement after Duterte, the front runner in the latest pre-election surveys, finally apologized for his remark which has created a firestorm.

Duterte drew flak after saying during a campaign rally last week that he should have been the first to rape Australian missionary Jacqueline Hamill when the latter was caught in the middle of a prison riot in Davao City in 1989.
After initially displaying defiance, the tough-talking mayor on Tuesday finally issued an apology for his remark, even as political analysts said this controversy could cost him votes.
"I apologize to the Filipino people for my recent remarks," said Duterte, who is the first presidential candidate from the southern island of Mindanao.
"There was no intention of disrespecting our women and those who have been victims of this horrible crime. Sometimes my mouth can get the better of me. My life is an open book. I am a man of many flaws and contradictions," he added.
Meanwhile, the vice president again brought up accusations of extrajudicial killings against Duterte, who has ruled Davao City for over two decades.
