Duterte reacts to Poe's crime czar offer
MANILA - Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Friday shared his thoughts on the offer of his fellow presidential bet, Senator Grace Poe to appoint him as her anti-crime czar, if she is elected.
Reacting to Poe's offer, Duterte said: "I'd be glad to. It would be an honor to serve under Poe."
He added that Poe "can hang me if she wants" should he fail to curb crimes and the drug trade for her within three to six months -- the same campaign vow he gave to his supporters.
However, Duterte's running mate, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, did not seem to welcome the idea.
Cayetano pointed out that the Poe camp initially dismissed the anti-crime platform of Duterte but has now suddenly taken a complete turn in wanting the mayor in their own administration.
"Una sabi nila, hindi kaya ni Mayor ng three to six months, ngayon gusto nila, sila ang crime czar, sila ang pabali-baligtad actually e," he said.

Cayetano also earlier expressed doubts on whether Poe can fulfill her campaign promise that the public would feel safe from crimes in just her first month in office.
Poe was quoted as saying that she will do this by appointing a reliable national police chief. She also promised cash rewards for villages that will register low or zero crime incident.
Cayetano branded Poe's promise as "unrealistic".
"It's unrealistic kasi in one month, you're still mobilizing. That's why we think three to six months is the right [time frame]," he said.
"Gagawin niya raw na PNP head ay magaling. E ang problema nga, walang nagsusumbong sa pusher kasi binabalikan ka e," he added.
