MANILA - Vice President Jejomar Binay has never spoken ill of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, even in the last presidential debate held in Cebu City where he was vocal about his admiration for the mayor.
But while campaigning in Quezon City on Thursday, Binay started to attack Duterte, warning the public about the mayor's promise to rid the country of crime in three to six months.
Speaking to reporters, Binay said Duterte would try to accomplish this with his brand of justice in Davao City -- through extrajudicial killings.
"Suntok sa buwan. Alam mo, yang problema sa katahimikan, peace and order, isang resulta yan ng kahirapan. Yung nagsabi ng 3 to 6 months, yung kanyang pamamaraan para makamit ang peace and order, ang extrajudicial killings," Binay said.
"Ito, siguro kaya sinasabing 3 to 6 months, may extrajudicial killings left and right.
"Kahit saang anggulo tingnan, mali yon.
Administration standard-bearer Mar Roxas on Wednesday, likewise, criticized Duterte for allegedly promising something that is impossible to achieve.
He said Davao City, Duterte's bailiwick, is one of the cities with the highest number of index crimes.

Meanwhile, Binay also said he is disappointed with Duterte for judging him and his family, despite being a lawyer.
Duterte had criticized the Binay dynasty, saying all members of the Binay family are corrupt.
"Si Mayor Duterte, abogado yan. Alam niya naman ang allegations, allegations, allegations. Kaya nga may hukuman. That is un-Christian, unlawful, violation of human rights," said Binay.
