Pulse disowns survey showing Duterte lead
IT'S A HOAX. Pulse Asia on Monday denied releasing a survey showing Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte taking the lead in the presidential race.
Facebook page "Pompee La Viña - Duterte 2016" on Sunday falsely claimed that Duterte was chosen by 26% of 4,000 respondents as their top presidential bet.
Senator Grace Poe, with 24%, allegedly dropped to second place in the fabricated March 21-25 polls. Meanwhile, administration bet Mar Roxas supposedly scored 21% while Vice President Jejomar Binay got 19%.
The misleading post has garnered over 1,500 "likes" and has been shared more than 1,300 times, as of posting time.
In a statement, Pulse Asia clarified that it did not conduct the survey.
The polling firm added: "We do not conduct surveys during Holy Week, Holy Thursday and Good Friday in particular."
Pulse Asia urged the public to refer to their website for official media releases.
The latest legitimate ABS-CBN survey conducted by Pulse Asia showed Poe reclaiming the solo lead among prospective winners in the May 9 elections.
Poe got 28 percent in the March 15-20 survey, which covered 4,000 registered voters with biometrics nationwide. It had an error margin of plus/minus 1.5 percent.
Duterte and Binay shared the second spot with 24% and 23%, respectively.
Roxas was third with 19%, while Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago was at distant fourth with 2%.
