Celebrity winners, losers in 2016 elections

MANILA, Philippines – Tito Sotto, Herbert Bautista, Richard Gomez, Lucy Torres-Gomez and Jhong Hilario are just some of the celebrities who are now close to victory in this year's national and local elections.

Re-electionist senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto appears to be winning as he is part of the list of the top 12 senators.

Unofficial, partial results also show Herbert Bautista leading the mayoral race in Quezon City, while Jhong Hilario is poised to become the No. 1 councilor in the first district of Makati City.

Alfred Vargas ran unopposed as the representative of the 5th District of Quezon City.

Veteran actress Vilma Santos is leading the race as the newest representative of the 6th District of Batangas.

Alex Castro also appears to be the No. 1 provincial board member in the 4th District of Bulacan.

Daniel Fernando is leading the race against fellow action star Philip Salvador as vice governor of Bulacan.

Jolo Revilla is close to winning the vice gubernatorial race in Cavite while his mother Lani Mercado was already proclaimed as the new mayor of Bacoor, Cavite.

And at last, Richard Gomez is set to win his first political post, the mayoral poll in Ormoc City, while his wife Lucy Torres topped the congressional race in the 4th District of Leyte.

Andrea del Rosario appears to be winning the vice mayoral race in Calatagan, Batangas.

But like any other race, some celebrities were not lucky to shine in this year's polls, as they failed to get enough number of votes.

Isko Moreno, Edu Manzano, Mark Lapid, Rey Langit, and Alma Moreno didn't make it to the list of top 12 senators.

ER Ejercito continues to lag in the gubernatorial race in Laguna.

Former sexy actress Angelica Jones is close to being defeated in vice gubernatorial race also in Laguna.

Daisy Reyes is lacking votes to win the mayoral race in Pateros.

Former OMB chairman Ronnie Rickets appears to be losing his battle as the representative of Muntinlupa.
