MANILA - Filipino-American Amy Vachal recently sealed her spot in The Voice's semi-finals as one of the top 9 contestants.
And if there's one fan seriously rooting for her, it's her mother, Filipina Deirdra Vachal.
On her Facebook page, Mrs. Vachal thanked all those who supported her daughter, for helping her make it through another round in the competition.
On Instagram, Amy has shared several photos of her mother. One particular photo was taken when her mother first landed in the US.
Mrs. Vachal comes from a prominent political family in Cebu. She is one of eight children of former Congressman Pablo Garcia and retired judge Esperanza Fiel-Garcia.
One of her siblings is former Cebu Governor, now 3rd District Representative Gwendolyn Garcia. Her other brother, Winston Garcia, is the former president of the Government Service Insurance System.
Amy, who is based in Brooklyn, New York, performed her rendition of the classic "Dream A Little Dream of Me" during Season 9's Blind Auditions.
Her mother said she noticed her daughter's interest in music when she was just three-years old.
