SAN FRANCISCO – Hundreds of fans of Filipino cuisine and people curious about Pinoy food flocked to downtown San Francisco for one of the country’s biggest Filipino food events of the year.
The 4th annual Kulinarya Filipino food showcase featured a variety of local vendors, artisans and a cooking competition -- all aimed at promoting Filipino cuisine to the mainstream, and to raise awareness about the Philippines as a culinary destination.
Winning dishes from the cook-off included kaldereta pasta and a sous vide chicken afritada.
“It’s an exciting event because it’s a celebration of Filipino culture and cuisine,” Consul Reichelle Quinones said. “Second, it’s also a way to promote and present that culture and cuisine to the mainstream.”
