MANILA – Members of the all-female pop group Mocha Girls were arrested in Malaysia last week, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Friday.
According to DFA Assistant Secretary Charles Jose, the 6-member group and their promoter were held by Malaysian immigration last September 4 "for violating their social visit pass by performing without the necessary permit."
"Binisita kaagad sila nung dumating sa kaalaman ng embassy para alamin ang kanilang kalagayan. Kinausap din ng embassy ang immigration to find out kung anong magiging disposition ng immigration about the case," he said.
Jose learned from the embassy in Kuala Lumpur that Malaysian immigration let the group go without pressing charges.
"The immigration has decided not to file charges but just to fine them," Jose said in a press briefing.
The group is now back in the Philippines.
The Mocha Girls also thanked those who prayed for them and apologized to those who were concerned about their situation in Malaysia.
