MANILA, Philippines – Less than a hundred Filipinos from war-torn Libya are now on their way to Egypt.
About 91 Filipinos are among the thousands of foreign workers who boarded a ship chartered by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
“I'm happy, we'll be going home, for sure, hopefully," said a Filipina repatriate.
The Filipinos were also granted safe passage by the rebel national transitional council and were also accompanied by the wife of the Philippine Ambassador to Libya.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said about 1,600 Filipinos are in Libya and that most of them refused to leave due to lack of job opportunities in the Philippines. -- ANC
