MANILA - The Filipino community in Saudi Arabia has been advised to check only with the embassy's website for any official information and announcements on passport release.
This after a website called OFWToday was found to have embedded the embassy's "Passport for Release" search system in its website without authority from the post or from the Philippine government.
"The Filipino community is reminded to be more vigilant in accessing websites that claim to provide certain 'services' that are otherwise officially and exclusively provided by the Philippine embassy," the embassy stated.
The official link to the "Passports for Release" search system is published in the website www.riyadhpe.dfa.gov.ph.
The OFWToday website has also been publishing misleading information by providing an incorrect telephone number registered under a private individual, which supposedly belongs to the embassy.
The correct contact number of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh is 01-482-3816.
"The Filipino community is likewise reminded that official information, advisories, and transactions from the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh can be accessed in its official website," the embassy said.
