NEW YORK - YouTube sensation David Dimuzio is as American as apple pie and baseball, but he has a heart full of love for Filipino music.

His most popular Filipino song, a Sharon Cuneta cover, has more than 2 and a half million hits on YouTube.

A taglish version of the same song with Kapamilya star Yeng Constantino hit the 2 million mark.

Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, the American singer/songwriter said he fell in love with Filipino music after attending River Maya former bandmember Rico Blanco's album launch party.

"Even though at that time I didn’t have any clue what he was saying, the Tagalog songs, I just visited the Philippines for the first time, I loved the songs, I thought they were super catchy," he said.

The first Filipino song he posted on YouTube was Blanco’s "Antukin." When he posted a collaboration video with Pinoy acoustic singer Nyoy Volante, it went viral.

With his deep love for Filipino music, Dimuzio said he is now "situationally fluent" in Tagalog and Bisaya.

"So I will learn the things that I need to know, you know what I mean? Like walang yelo, without ice, when I’m taking a taxi I can tell them where to go, on stage same thing, like magandang gabi sa inyong lahat, ayos lang diyan," he said.

From struggling singing juggler in North Carolina to YouTube viral prince, his love for Filipino music played a big role in his successful music career.
