Few people thought that Maria Leonor 'Leni' Gerona-Robredo would win the 2016 vice-presidential elections.
The odds were stacked against her: she was the 2nd choice of the Liberal Party (first choice was Senator Grace Poe); she initially had low awareness among voters; 4 out of the 6 VP candidates were also from Bicol.
But she still won, although by a very slim margin of 263,473 over second-placer, Senator Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos, Jr.
