Leptospirosis: What you need to know

Leptospirosis, a bacterial infection caused by contact with rodent urine, has killed 99 people across the country this year, according to the Department of Health (DOH). 

It recorded a total of 1,030 cases of leptospirosis between January 1 and June 9, 2018, or 41% of the total number of leptospirosis cases in 2017 pegged at 2,495.
