MANILA - President Aquino is counting the days left to his presidency and has started to reflect on the legacy he wants to leave behind.

Speaking to the Bulong Pulungan sa Sofitel media forum, Aquino said that he keeps track of the remaining time that he has left in the Palace with a member of his staff keeping a calendar for that purpose.

And with 940 days or around two years and six months left in office, Aquino has a wish list of what he wants to accomplish before his term ends.

He said he is targeting to complete the refurbishing of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport's Terminal 1 by 2016, the NLEX and SLEX connector, the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), and progress in the construction of additional light rail systems, and airports in Panglao, Bohol; Mactan, Cebu, among others.

In terms of the intangibles, Aquino said he wants the people to imbibe a "can-do" attitude.

"These are important by and of themselves, but I think, more importantly is I really want… to see the expression on the faces of our people the 'can do' attitude, that nothing is beyond our grasp and our reach, and that is what I am hoping to see, hopefully, not just the day before I leave, but more importantly after I leave, that it continues and become stronger."

Aquino said he has no regrets running for the presidency.

In his speech prior to the forum, Aquino said it has been an honor leading a people who have proven their resilience especially after going through several crises, the most recent of which was super typhoon "Yolanda."

"Ngayon ho gusto ko lang talaga ideklara sa buong sambayanan talagang malaking karangalan na mamuno sa sambayanan tulad ng Pilipino na talaga naman pong sa maski anumang pagsubok ay agarang bumabalik at lumalaban," he said.
