Do the Binays own Makati? This was the question posed by Secretary Mar Roxas last week after Makati Mayor Junjun Binay refused to leave Makati City Hall despite the suspension order issued by Ombudsman. The Binays have accused Malacanang that they are being picked on (inaapi) even as Binay supporters fought policemen who were there to maintain peace and order as the suspension order was finally served.
On Wednesday, however, Binay left city hall and allowed Vice-Mayor Kid Peña to take charge. It was the first time that a Binay has not been head of Makati City Hall in over two decades.
On Monday, ABS-CBN News was granted access to the offices of both Mayor Binay and Vice-Mayor Pena. Columnist Winnie Monsod has described Binay's office as palatial, complete with a bedroom.
Pena's office? "Now, that's an example of inaapi," she said.
You be the judge.

This is not the lobby of the Makati City Hall. This is the 21st floor lobby leading to Mayor Junjun Binay's office.
