Rock for Masungi, a solidarity event backing the Masungi Geopark Project, was held on Sunday  at 5 p.m. in the GT Toyota Asian Center Auditorium, UP Diliman. 

Organized by the Friends of Masungi, and spearheaded by Ateneo Alumni Association president Goody Hernandez, the event aims to rally supporters for the acclaimed conservation initiative. 

Masungi Georeserve gained international acclaim at the 2024 World Economic Forum, earning recognition for its exemplary ecosystem restoration practices, honored with the 2022 UN Sustainable Development Goals Action Campaign Inspire Awards.

The event serves as a peaceful demonstration against the proposed nullification of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Masungi Geopark Project and DENR Secretary Antonia Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga’s plan to transfer co-management to Project TRANSFORM.

With registrations reaching maximum capacity within three hours, over 300 attendees joined the event, with hundreds more showing support online. Masungi's conservation endeavors have garnered backing from various organizations over the years, countering detrimental interests in the region.

Diverse representatives from sectors and partner organizations, including Environmental Storyteller and Advocate Celine Murillo, ACT Representative Cong. France Castro, KABATAAN Representative Cong. Raoul Manuel, and others, are present to lend their support to the cause, emphasizing the significance of preserving Masungi Georeserve's ecological integrity.

The highlight of the event was a concert called "Rock for Masungi" which showcased an array of musical talents, featuring performances by A.M.P. Band, Bayang Barrios at ang Naliyagan, Color it Red, DJ Marco Molina, Joey Ayala at Ang Bagong Lumad, Keiko Necesario, Noel Cabangon, Paolo Sandejas, and Rannie Raymundo. 

The event also incorporated a prayer rally and culminated with a candle lighting ceremony.
