MANILA—Yeng Constantino was all smiles for her friend who was filming her reaction after learning that she had won an acting award at this year's MMFF 2019 Gabi ng Parangal on Friday night.

The singer was recognized as the best supporting actress for her role in "Write About Love," in which she played the girl in the imagined love story the lead characters were writing.

In the clip posted on Instagram, Constantino, who was at an airport waiting for her flight back to Manila, was incredulous.

"Pauwi na po ng Manila na puno na galak ang puso! Muli maraming salamat po!" she said.

Constantino edged Meryll Soriano ("Culion") and Krystal Brimner ("Sunod") for the award. It was one of eight trophies "Write About Love" had won; only "Mindanao" took home more.

In a prior interview, Constantino said she had hoped she would win an award for her role as it would help validate her effort to grow as an artist.

"Hindi naman ako magde-deny na dini-desire ko. Maganda 'yon sa portfolio ko kumbaga bilang isang artist," she said. "Hindi lang bilang mang-aawit pero sa pag-grow ko as an artist sa ibang larangan. So hopefully."
