MANILA – Newly-weds Aiza Seguerra and Liza Dino are in the thick of preparations for their second wedding on January 8.
Seguerra and Dino recently got married in California early this month, which was attended by around 50 friends and loved ones.
While same-sex marriages are not legal in the Philippines, the couple said their wedding in the Philippines isn't so much as making a statement about the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community (LGBT) but more about celebrating their love.
“Everything that happens with how the LGBT is affected by our relationship is really incidental,” Dino said.
“Hindi talaga namin pinaplano na we have to make a statement. We are advocates, of course. Pero kumbaga we're not doing this to be recognized. We just feel we have to do this because number one, our families are here and ,like what Liza said, kahit gaano ka-special 'yung wedding namin sa US, our families, our best friends are all here,” Seguerra continued.
Dino said they are holding their second wedding for their families to witness their love for each other.
“Napakaimportante na maibigay 'yun sa pamilya namin. It's not a statement we're trying to make to other people. Ever since, this relationship has always been about us and the people we love, and it's going to remain that way,” she said.
Compared to their December 8 wedding, Dino said the second ceremony will only be symbolic.
“It’s so bright and fresh. No black during the wedding. It’s a beach wedding. It’s very different from the forest wedding. Enchanting and magical 'yung isa. Ito mas laid back, very festive. A lot of personal touches still but more rustic. Ang pinakamaganda sa wedding namin is the song, the music,” she said.
Seguerra said she has invited a number of her colleagues in the music industry to perform on their wedding day and they are fortunate that they all agreed to grace the special occasion.
“Happy ako kasi working in the industry, may perks din. I was able to invite friends who will sing for us for free. Happy ako kasi it will make everything more special,” she said.
Among the artists who will be at their wedding are Martin Nievera, the group Sessionistas and The Company.
