Actor Aga Muhlach thanked his fans for watching the film "Miracle in Cell No. 7" on the first day of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) on Wednesday.
On social media, Muhlach posted a collage of photos of people queuing outside movie theaters to watch the Philippine remake of the hit 2013 Korean movie of the same title.
"I am truly humbled 🙏🏼 Maraming salamat talaga sa inyong lahat!!!" he wrote in the caption.
Viva Films also posted a series of photos on its Instagram account, where they shared that the movie sold out in some cinemas.
"People are lining up for this underdog film!" it wrote in the caption.
Viva Films also shared photos of child star Xia Vigor, who visited one of the malls and took photos with her fans.
As in the 2013 original, the adaptation centers on a mentally challenged man who is wrongfully imprisoned for murder. He forms friendships with his fellow inmates, who then connive to have him reunite with his daughter.
In the Nuel Naval-helmed remake, Muhlach plays Lito, the father, while Vigor portrays his daughter, Yesha.
Cast members include Joel Torre, JC Santos, Mon Confiado, Jojit Lorenzo, Soliman Cruz, Joel Torre, Bela Padilla, and Tirso Cruz III.
