MANILA – Sam Milby does not feel pressured to replicate the box-office success of the first two installments of “Kimmy Dora” with the upcoming prequel of the comedy film series.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News during the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars on Sunday, Milby said he is confident that moviegoers will line up to watch “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel” when it opens on Wednesday.
“Hindi naman ako pressured. Malaki ang following ng ‘Kimmy Dora.’ The fact na kasama ito sa MMFF, that’s a big blessing itself. We feel very positive. We have a great movie na mag-e-enjoy ang lahat,” he said.
He added: “I’m sure more pressure para kay direk, para kay Ate Uge (Eugene Domingo) but we feel confident that we have a great movie for everyone.”
In a previous interview, Domingo said their confidence lies on the fact that they knew exactly what they want from the movie.
“Klarong klaro ang vision ng director and 'yung gusto mangyari ng Spring Films sa pangatlo at huling ‘Kimmy Dora.’ I-expect natin na maraming pasabog and paandar dahil third and last installment na siya,” she said at the time.
Just like the two other “Kimmy Dora” films, Domingo promised something different for fans of the series.
“I’m very excited. Required kami mag-training ng karate, muay thai, yoga, sports. Physically challenging siya sa aming mga kakayahan bilang artista. 'Yung comedy niya is kompleto. May exciting scenes, may play of words. It’s complete,” she said.
“Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel” will be released in theaters nationwide beginning December 25.
