MANILA - Boracay native Ernaflor "Ferns" Tosco got the nod of all four coaches after battling it out against teen belter Krystina Louise Ng on ''The Voice of the Philippines'' Sunday.
With a little tweaking on the song's arrangement, the two artists of Team Apl performed the ABBA classic "The Winner Takes It All," with Tosco singing a reggae part and Ng singing a hard rock part.
Coach Lea Salonga said the 16-year-old did a good job singing out of her comfort zone, but Tocmo stayed more true to her style.
"For me, because she stayed true, as much as she could, to who she was, I'm going to go with Ferns," Salonga said.
For Bamboo Mañalac, Tosco's voice was also more dominant during the performance. "Yung kulay ng boses mo lang, it just radiated more, it just came out more," he said.
Asked for his decision, apl.de.apl said while his two artists both did their part, he has to choose experience.
''Ferns, I love all your adlibs, na nailagay mo 'yung ethnic rock reggae. Krystina, you were able to put that goth rock. But for tonight I'm going with experience, I'm going with Ferns,'' he said.
