MANILA - The youngest daughter of Senator Gringo Honasan went head-to-head with Filipina-Colombian singer Patricia Gomez during the Battle Rounds of ''The Voice of the Philippines'' aired Saturday.

Kai Honasan and Gomez performed a stripped-down version of the classic "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

Coach Bamboo Mañalac, who mentored the pair, had a difficult time picking who between Honasan and Gomez should remain part of his team. He said both have very unique voices.

"I think composure played a big role. Experience played a big role," he said, before eventually opting for Honasan.

Gomez, however, was saved from elimination after coach decided to "steal" the artist. The 21-year-old will be joining Honasan in the competition's Knockout Rounds, but will be under the tutelage of the Black Eyed Peas member.
