MANILA - Casper Blancaflor and Rencee Lee Rapanot will both be moving to the next round of "The Voice of the Philippines" after wowing the judges with their performance on Saturday.
For the Battle Rounds, the pair performed Radiohead's "Creep." It quickly earned praises from all four coaches, with ap.de.ap noting how the two artists managed to stand out without overpowering each other.
"Both your voices are so unique, and then you guys put them together, you guys just blend it so well," the rapper and Black Eyes Peas member said.
Broadway star Lea Salonga, for her part, lauded Rapanot, who admittedly wanted to promote OPM music as oppose to international hits.
"Pareho kayong konektado sa kantang ito. Pero napatunayan mo [Rapanot] na ito -- isang Radiohead na kanta -- kinaya mo rin," she said.
"Si Casper, your voice sounded so beautiful," added the pair's coach, Bamboo Mañalac. "Rencee, 'yung challenge na binigay ko sa iyo, alam ko nahirapan ka dito, pero inaral mo talaga."
The rockstar then tried to explain his decision to pick Rapanot to remain in Kamp Kawayan for the competition's Knockout Rounds.
"At this point, wala akong rational explanation na malabas sa utak ko kasi nadala niyo ako somewhere else," he said.
However, Blancaflor was then moved to tears after she was stolen by the team of Lea Salonga. It meant that the 25-year-old will be competing in the 3rd round of the competition as part of Team Lea.
