MANILA — Gerald Anderson has a new role, and it’s not onscreen.

The Kapamilya actor was recently appointed as ambassador of goodwill by the Philippine Youth-KASAMA (Kabatang Sama-samang Maglilingkod).

Anderson, 30, was given the title in a ceremony attended by the group’s president Gerald Ortiz and national adviser Nellie King, Quirino Governor Dakila Cua, and Sen. Imee Marcos.

“I’m very honored, very proud and I’m very excited kasi merong panibagong platform para makatulong sa ibang tao,” Anderson said in his speech before some 900 members of the Sangguniang Kabataan.

Recalling the 2009 Ondoy calamity, Anderson spoke of how celebrity can be used to be of service to others.
