MANILA, Philippines — Award-winning singer Ogie Alcasid has joined the judges' table of the rebooted "Tawag ng Tanghalan."
Alcasid made his debut on "It' Showtime" on Saturday and performed a string of duets with comedian and noontime show host Vice Ganda.
It was his first appearance on the Kapamilya network since he was revealed to be part of the upcoming kids' edition of "Your Voice Sounds Familiar."
"Basta ako ang hinahanap ko is 'yung experience na mararanasan ko sa performance ng tao," Alcasid said when asked about what to expect from him as a judge of the amateur singing contest.
"Siyempre, magiging teknikal din tayo but I think the most important thing is experience. Na-communicate ba niya 'yung gusto niyang sabihin dun sa awiting yun?" he added.
Alcasid made his debut as a singer in 1989. He started his television career as part of ABS-CBN, but later transferred to GMA-7 and then TV5.
Back in August, Alcasid told reporters that he was open to returning to the Kapamilya station.
"Ang feeling ko sa three years being with TV5, we weren't able to accomplish what we were supposed to accomplish," he said.
"So kung iiwan ko lang 'yun na ganoon, there's big part of me na sige baka kaya pa naman. However, kung hindi na kaya, kung wala na, then it's time to move on. I don't want to base my position on anything else but where am I needed most at this point."
