MANILA - Actress Angel Locsin is back in the country after undergoing medical treatment in Singapore for a disc bulge in her spine, which has forced her to pull out of a planned Star Cinema adaptation of the iconic Filipina superheroine Darna.

In her Instagram account, the 30-year-old Locsin posted a photo of her boarding a flight to Manila. The caption read: "On our way back to Manila! Still in recovery stage. Thank you so much for those who prayed for me."

Last December 4, Locsin shared that she successfully underwent the first stage of neuro-spine surgery. She also thanked her followers, as well as the Filipino nurses working in an undisclosed Singapore hospital for "taking really good care of her."

In October, Locsin made headlines when she revealed that she will no longer be reprising the role of Darna.

At the time, she said that the decision to pull her out of the project for fears of permanent damage to her health was final and made mutually with Star Cinema and ABS-CBN.

However, in a recent interview with ABS-CBN News, Locsin's boyfriend, television host Luis Manzano, hinted that there might still be a chance for his girlfriend to portray Darna once more.

"Sana. Siguro not just dahil sa clamor ng tao but kahit ang management ay nakikita na 'Oo nga ano baka naman kaya pa ngang hintayin si Angel.' So sana," he said.
