MANILA, Philippines – Veteran actress Anita Linda grabbed the best leading actress award at the 54th Asia-Pacific Film Festival (APFF).
The 86-year-old Filipino actress was recognized for her outstanding performance in Brillante Mendoza’s “Lola.”
The multi-awarded film depicts the love of 2 grandmothers as well as their sacrifices for their grandsons.
The best feature film award went to India's "Janala (The Widow)," while Iranian Hamid Farrokhnezhad clinched the best leading actor prize.
The awarding ceremony was held at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei on December 4.
A total of 56 films from 18 countries participated in the prestigious event. Among the participating countries were the Philippines, India, Malaysia, Japan and Iran.
According to an online report, APFF is considered the second-longest running international movie event next to the Academy Awards in the United States.
