On Saturday, Santos took to social media to thank those who continue to support her. She said she could not believe it at first until it was Mendoza himself who texted her about the good news.

"Napakarami at napakalaki ang dapat kong ipagpasalamat sa panginoon... hindi pa natatapos ang 2019, binusog na niya ng sobra sobra ang puso ko sa napakaraming bagong experiences ang binigay niya sa akin... iba't ibang lugar ang napuntahan ko sa iba't ibang larangan ng industriyang mahal ko at patuloy kong inaaral," she said in an Instagram post.

Santos also attributed her success to Mendoza and the team behind the film.

"Para sa atin ito guyzzzz... @brillante_mendoza maraming salamat sa tiwala at pagtyatyaga sa akin," she said.

She likewise thanked her husband, host Ryan Agoncillo, their 3 children, as well as her mother and brother.

"My heart is soooooo full!! Iba ang Pilipino! MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS!" she wrote.

In her first collaboration with the acclaimed filmmaker, Santos plays a mother caring for a child with terminal cancer, while navigating the complications of having a soldier-husband (Allen Dizon) active in battle.

Mendoza's film also won the Henry Barakat Award for Best Artistic Contribution.

In October, Santos earned praise for her role in the film during its world premiere in the Busan International Film Festival.

A superstar in Philippine showbiz, Santos is credited in Screen Daily’s review as the “main asset” of the film.

"Mindanao" is also an official entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.
