MANILA - A veteran of singing competitions became the newest member of Team Apl on the second season of "The Voice of the Philippines".

Abbey Pineda, who started joining singing contests when she was in the second grade, said her family has always supported her in her passion for singing. She said this encouraged her to join more contests.

On the show's episode on Saturday, Pineda sang "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," making turn for her.

"I heard quality in your voice. You know, that wasn't the most perfect performance but I like a challenge, and that's being a coach, being challenged. We're gonna work together and try our best to make it perfect when it comes to the battle rounds. We got some work to do but I accept the challenge," said.

"I like the vocals kaya lang ang hinahanap ko lang, hindi lang like eh. I was waiting for the moment when I could fall in love with it, and I was waiting for it to come, but congratulations, you made it," Lea Salonga said, explaining her decision not to turn.

"Ako, konting-konti na lang pipindot na po sana ako eh, kaya lang, dahil sobrang ang taas na ng expectations ko sa kantang ito eh, hinanap ko lang 'yung talagang overflowing ang pagmamahal mo na hindi mo talaga maitigil ang pagmamahal mo sa kanya," Sarah Geronimo said.

"I echoed what they said na rin Abby, so I just want to say congratulations for making it on Team Apl, Abbey Pineda," Bamboo Mañalac said.

Pineda is the eleventh member of Team Apl, joining Alisah Bonaobra, Bradley Holmes, Ferns Tosco, Jannet Cadayona, Jason Fernandez, Kristina Ng, Mark Avila, Mark Cando, Mercedita Quiachon, and Samantha Felizco.
