Jennylyn Mercado will topbill a Star Cinema film in the first quarter of 2019, the ABS-CBN film outfit announced on Tuesday.
Mercado, who is identified with rival network GMA-7, will star alongside Richard Gutierrez and JM de Guzman in “Heart of Mine.”
The film project was unveiled during ABS-CBN’s “Family is Love” Christmas trade event.
“Heart of Mine” will mark Mercado’s second project under Star Cinema after the 2016 blockbuster “Just the 3 of Us,” where she was paired with John Lloyd Cruz under the direction of Cathy Garcia-Molina.
Her team-up with Gutierrez will be a reunion of sorts, as the actor was formerly a Kapuso artist along with Mercado. It will be her first feature-length film with de Guzman.
Aside from “Heart of Mine,” Kapamilya films slated for release in the first quarter of 2019 include “Eerie,” “Sakaling Maging Tayo,” “Open,” “Clarita,” and the still-untitled Liza Soberano-Enrique Gil starrer with director Antoinette Jadaone.
