Comedian Vice Ganda is not one to shy away from mentioning rival shows and personalities on live television despite the so-called “network wars,” and a recent episode of “It’s Showtime” was no exception.

During the Miss Q&A segment of the noontime show, the “Fantastica” star casually said that his mother is a fan of the trio of Vic Sotto, Tito Sotto, and Joey de Leon — the long-time co-hosts of “Eat Bulaga,” which airs against “It’s Showtime.”

Vice Ganda was sharing his plans for a short vacation with his mother when the topic came up, saying, in jest, that Mrs. Viceral requested for a change of scenery following her frequent visits to the ABS-CBN studios.

That meant planning to see the “Eat Bulaga” set instead, Vice Ganda joked.

He also brought up the disparity between the cash prizes given by “It’s Showtime” and “Eat Bulaga,” joking that what his program lacks in monetary rewards, it makes up for through laughs.

At that point, an audience member shouted “I love you” to Vice Ganda. He replied the same, but with a teasing followup — “Ngayon, ‘I love you,’ echosera ka, pero noong kaputukan ng AlDub, hindi ka nanonood dito!”

Vice Ganda was referring to the hit love team of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards that was formed on “Eat Bulaga.”

At the time, “It’s Showtime” had a similar reality love story segment centering on “Pastillas Girl,” or Angelica Jane Yap, whose search for her ideal man was seen as the ABS-CBN program’s response to AlDub.

In light of his AlDub quip, Vice Ganda also mentioned Yap, whom he then called on to visit “It’s Showtime” to give an update on her current relationship.

Vice Ganda’s good-humored take on the perceived “network wars” has also translated to the big screen, as seen in his choice of leading men in “Fantastica.”

In the Metro Manila Film Festival entry, he will be teaming up for the first time with GMA-7 star Dingdong Dantes, as well as Kapuso-turned-Kapamilya actor Richard Gutierrez.
