MANILA - A 16-year-old General Santos City resident who wishes to give back to her family made it to the team of apl.de.ap after her performance on "The Voice of the Philippines" aired Sunday.

Krystina Louise Ng had the Black Eyed Peas member turn his chair at the last second with her powerful rendition of the rock classic "House of the Rising Sun."

Coaches Lea Salonga, Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo Mañalac were all impressed with the voice of Ng. However, they thought she failed to tell the story of the song.

"Ang mga old school songs tulad nito usually ay punong-puno ng kuwento. Importante rin na marinig namun 'yung istorya ng kanta, hindi lang birit ng birit. And you will learn that through time," Salonga said.

For his part, Apl said he is excited to work with Ng.

"That was amazing. I agree that we need to give you a dynamic. But that's why I am here for as a coach," he said.
