NEW YORK – ABS-CBN joined some of Hollywood's biggest stars in New York for the 39th Annual International Emmys on Monday night (Tuesday morning in Manila).

For two years in a row, former "Beverly Hills 90210" heartthrob Jason Priestley hosted the International Emmys.

"I really enjoyed the show. This is the second time that I hosted it. I had a lot of fun," he said.

Glam rock icon Lady Gaga surprised an audience of more than a thousand international entertainment and media executives.

She opened the awards gala by presenting the Special International Emmy Founders Award to Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer of "American Idol" and co-creator of "So You Think You Can Dance."

Many other celebrities walked the red carpet, from "Gossip Girl" actress Jessica Szohr to "Dragon Ball" lead star Justin Chatwin.

"I've never been here before so I'm super honored and pleased to see how everything works out and runs," Szohr said.

For many of these entertainment and media executives from around the world, the International Emmys is more than just an awards night.

It is their yearly taste of Hollywood glam in The Big Apple.

Already a winner

Everybody can't get an award at the International Emmys. But in an international competition where only a handful are selected from more than a thousand entries, every nominee is considered a winner.

This is especially true for ABS-CBN production executives, whose works have been nominated for Best Telenovela for three years in a row.

This year, "Precious Hearts Romances: Impostor" is the lone Asian nominee in the Best Telenovela category of the International Emmys. Other nominees include Argentina's "Contra las Cuerdas," Brazil's "Destiny River" and Portugal's "Lacos de Sangue," which grabbed the award.

“Talagang kapag na-nominate ka, feeling mo nanalo ka na rin,” said Florida "Linggit" Tan, managing director of ABS-CBN TV Entertainment Production.

“Sobrang overwhleming and inspiring that we were able to experience this kasi siyempre it’s really an experience to be able to be with all of these people from all over the world,” added Rowena Benitez, production manager of ABS-CBN.
