MANILA – (UPDATED) Jodi Sta. Maria may not have brought home the best actress trophy at the International Emmys but she is definitely returning to the Philippines feeling victorious.
On Tuesday, Germany’s Christiane Paul won the Best Actress award for her role in "Unterm Radar" at the 44th Annual International Emmy Awards held at the Hilton New York Hotel.
Sta. Maria was nominated for her portrayal of Amor Powers in ABS-CBN’s 2015 television hit "Pangako Sa 'Yo."
On Instagram, Sta. Maria shared how humbling her whole Emmys experience has been.
“Attending and being nominated at the 44th International Emmy Awards is a memorable experience. Making new friends, sharing a glimpse of the Filipino hospitality to my fellow nominees, proudly speaking about the beauty of the Philippines and representing the country to 15 nations made it more meaningful and special,” she wrote.
The actress said her nomination “will serve as inspiration for me to be more dedicated and serious and passionate about my craft and to be better than the person who I was yesterday.”
Sta. Maria also said she believes Filipino actors are now ready for the global scene.
“The international stage is opening up and there are opportunities to showcase our talents worldwide,” she said. “When God gives us talents and puts a dream in our hearts, it's for a good purpose. And it's up to us to have courage to pursue, fight, believe, and fulfill that dream.”
