Alessandra de Rossi couldn’t hold back her tears as she revealed she nearly quit showbiz after a recent “betrayal” involving a colleague.
The 34-year-old actress made the admission in an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” that aired Tuesday.
De Rossi was talking about her close relationship with her mother, who she said had warned her about “loving too much,” subsequently opening the topic of betrayal.
“Masyado kang magmahal,” she recalled her mother telling her. “Huwag daw masyado. Hindi raw lahat pamilya.”
At that point, de Rossi spoke in cryptic terms about the last time she cried, only vaguely referring to encountering insincere individuals in showbiz.
“Ang hirap lang talaga humanap ng tao na totoo sa ‘yo sa showbiz. Kasi totoong-totoo ako, e. Ang hirap. Iyon ang sinasabi sa ‘kin ng mama ko na, ‘Huwag mo ituring lahat na pamilya. Mamili ka lang.’ Ako kasi, hindi ako namimili,” she said.
De Rossi added, in jest: “Don’t worry about me. I’m just hormonal, because I’m pregnant!”
Turning serious, the “Through Night and Day” star admitted that because of the experience, she considered turning her back on her acting career.
“Umabot ako sa . . . Gusto ko na namang mag-quit. ‘Yung, ‘Ayoko na, ang pa-plastic niyong lahat!’ Alam mo ‘yon? Pero hindi, e. Kailangan ko lang siguro i-regulate,” she said.
She went on: “I make mistakes. Nagagalit ako. Minsan, mayroon akong nasusungitan. I’m a human being, but I’m not evil. Never ako nantalo ng kapwa ko. I’m not evil, hindi ako sure sa good.”
De Rossi did not give specific details about what happened. She also did not say whether the “betrayal” had something to do with her drastic hairstyle change, having shaved her head after years of sporting long hair.
Earlier in the interview, de Rossi was similarly secretive about the reason behind her decision to go bald, only clarifying that “I am OK.”
“Siyempre, merong kuwento . . . Basta, ano lang, may pinaghandaan ako. Iyon,” she said.
