MANILA -- Young actress Ysabel Ortega revealed that she has not seen her father senator Lito Lapid for almost a year now.
This amid rumors insinuating that she only got her role in the primetime series "On the Wings of Love" because of her father's influence.
How Ysabel Ortega got her role in 'OTWOL'
In an interview with entertainment site Push, Ortega opened up about her relationship with her father, whom she last saw in December 2014.
“Matagal na po kaming hindi nagkikita ni Papa. Mga isang taon na po,” she said. “Sa staff lang po niya ako nakikipag-communicate. Pero okay lang po ako. Siyempre po, sinusuportahan naman ako ng daddy ko."
The 16-year-old actress is Lapid's daughter with singer Michelle Ortega.
According to Ortega, being an illegitimate child does not affect her.
"No matter what happens naman po, magulang ko pa rin po sila. Hindi ko na lang po iniisip 'yon. At tsaka po, siyempre po, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m grateful na mommy ko po 'yung mommy ko and grateful na siya (Lapid) rin po 'yung daddy ko,” she said.
Still, she cannot help but feel "distant" to her father, although she quickly denied having hard feelings for him.
“Ay hindi po! Siyempre po, my dad is my dad. No matter what happens po I’m there for him. I’ll always love him, I’ll always be there for him,” she said.
