MANILA – Jodi Sta. Maria is off to New York to attend the 2016 International Emmy Awards.
Sta. Maria is among the nominees for best actress for her portrayal of Amor Powers in the remake of the ABS-CBN drama series "Pangako Sa 'Yo."
On Instagram, the actress shared her photo at the airport as she thanked everyone who prayed for her immediate recuperation. In a a previous post, she revealed that she had stomach flu.
“And off the iEmmys I go. Thank you sooo much for praying for me! I am healed in Jesus name,” she wrote. “Weeeee!!! Oh boy I am so excited. Bye Manila!!”
In a previous interview, Sta. Maria was in tears as she admitted that being recognized internationally has always been one of her dreams as an actress.
"I was really thankful na nabigyan tayo ng opportunity. Napansin tayong mga Filipino sa International Emmys," she said.
She will be competing against the U.K.'s Judi Dench ("Roald Dahl's Esio Trot"), Brazil's Grazi Massafera ("Verdades Secretas") and Germany's Christiane Paul ("Unterm Radar").
Meanwhile, "Bridges of Love," which starred Jericho Rosales, Paulo Avelino and Maja Salvador, was nominated in the Telenovela category, alongside entries from Canada and Brazil.
The winners will be announced on November 21 at the Hilton New York Hotel.
