MANILA - Film icon Nora Aunor and former President and now-Manila Mayor Joseph "Erap" Estrada were among the guests at a reunion of former stars of Sampaguita Pictures held over the weekend.
Aunor and Estrada, who had a controversial rift more than a decade ago, were seen speaking with each other and exchanging pleasantries during the party held at the Sampaguita Gardens in Quezon City.
The "Himala" star backed Estrada's presidential bid, but in 2001, amid protests that eventually led to his ouster, Aunor played a different tune and even accused her former onscreen partner of beating her.
Aunor publicly apologized to Estrada in 2012, although the actor-politician had already said he has forgiven her as early as July 2011.
Some 150 veteran stars attended the reunion last Saturday, including Mila del Sol, Gloria Romero, Susan Roces, Helen Gamboa, Eddie Garcia, Boots Anson-Roa, Marissa Delgado, Divina Valencia, Maggie dela Riva, Pilita Corrales, Nova Villa, Caridad Sanchez, Armida Siguion-Reyna, Delia Razon, and Celia Rodriguez.
Also at the event were Ai Ai delas Alas, Randy Santiago, Nino Muhlach, Roderick Paulate, Maricel Soriano, Lorna Tolentino, and Herbert Bautista.
