MANILA – Ruffa Gutierrez revealed that all is now well between her and her mother, feisty talent manager Annabelle Rama, weeks after they publicly exchanged bitter words on Twitter.
The online feud, which erupted last October 27, stemmed from Gutierrez supposedly walking out from a Rama's birthday dinner last October 25.
Although she did not directly mention her mother, Gutierrez lamented that Rama "tried to be funny at my expense," apparently referring to the talent manager's criticisms of the man she is currently seeing.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual, Gutierrez shared that things have now been ironed out and she and her mom have already reconciled since then.
“Alam niyo naman kaming dalawa ni mommy, we have a love and hate relationship sometimes. But at the end of the day, nanay ko pa rin siya. Tayong mga anak, no matter how mad our mom is to me, kailangan at the end of the day, tayo ang magpakumbaba at tayo ang unang gumawa ng first move para bumati,” she said.
Gutierrez, however, reiterated that her mother should remember that she is no longer a teenager.
“Ang sinasabi ko lang kasi kay mommy at lagi kong pinapaalala sa kanya na ‘Mom, I’m not 16 years old anymore. Baka nakakalimutan mo.’ Feeling ko dahil nag-iisang babae ako, nakakalimutan niya na may dalawang anak na ako, na hiwalay na ako. If ever I make mistakes naman when it comes to love, allow me to make those mistakes kasi I’ll learn from them naman,” she said.
Asked if she still gets affected when her mother says unflattering things about the man she’s seeing, Gutierrez said: “Alam mo naman ang nanay ko, sanay na. Parang hindi na nagbago, 2006 'yun na ang sinasabi niya up to now. Dapat ibahin naman niya ang terms niya.”
“For me, sinasabi ng mga tao na ‘Naku masanay ka na sa nanay mo, ganyan talaga siya.’ For me naman, Ma, excuse me, sinasabi ko lang yung totoo pero minsan isipin din niya na huwag niya ako ipahiya sa mga tao, especially kapag party niya. Malaki na ako. 'Yun lang ang nakakasakit,” she added.
Gutierrez went on to say: “For a while, nagkaroon kami ng misunderstanding. I think I’m right. Pati mga kapatid ko kumampi sa akin. Not all the time, Ma, you’re right. Just because you’re a mom, you’re right. Being a mother is a gift that you should always cherish.”
At this point in her life, Gutierrez said she is hoping to meet a man who will be able to stand up for her, even before Rama.
"Ang hanap ko sa isang lalaki, ;yung matatag. Kahit anong sabihin ng nanay ko, hindi takot. Kasi 'yung iba takot na takot, tumatakbo, umaalis. I want someone that can stand before my mom and say ‘Hey, I’m here and I’ll be with Ruffa through thick and thin,’" she said.
