MANILA -- Alisah Bonaobra, who first became popular in a YouTube video that became viral, landed a spot on Team Apl on the second season of "The Voice of the Philippines."
The 19-year-old from Paco, Manila became popular a few months back after a video of her singing "Let It Go" went viral online.
A Bachelor of Music student, Bonaobra had to stop studying after she lost her scholarship.
Bonaobra also helps her family make a living by selling cooked food on the sidewalk in Kalaw.
She admitted that she joined "The Voice" in order to help her family.
On the show's episode on Sunday, Bonaobra sang Jessie J's "Domino," making three coaches turn for her.
Only Bamboo did not turn for her.
"You started out, I was sort of hooked, na, okay, saan niya dadalhin 'tong kanta na 'to, saan niya dadalhin. [You're] so different, you're take was just so different na you had my attention there. But when the song peaked up, sa akin, it just didn't, hindi umabot sa point of expectation ko, na okay, saan mo dadalhin 'to. Tatlong coach ang umikot para sa 'yo, congratulations," Bamboo told her.
"Let me be absolutely honest. The last time na narinig ko 'yung kantang 'yun, si Darren Espanto 'yung kumanta. 'Yung umikot para sa kanya, si Bamboo at si Coach Sarah. At 'yun 'yung isa sa pagsisisi ko dito sa show na ito, na hindi ko siya inikutan. So, pinagdasal ko 'to, kung marinig ko 'yung kantang 'yan ulit, I have to turn, para walang regrets. No regrets. Ang galing mo! Pick me, please, you would be such a wonderful, wonderful, addition sa Team Lea," Lea Salonga told Bonaobra.
"Kahit nakatalikod ako, naramdaman ko 'yung energy mo, and you did a fun song that requires movement, so matuturo ko 'yun sa 'yo, pag-galaw, para, it adds to your performance," Apl.de.ap said.
"Ang maganda sa 'yo, hindi mo in-overdo, hindi mo pinu-push masyado 'yung boses mo, at effortless ka kumanta. Ang effortless lang. Ang galing! Sabi nga ni Coach Apl, ikaw ang 'Coco': 'Cocompleto' sa kanya, team niya. Para sa akin, kumpleto ka na. Para kang regalo, beautifully wrapped, pero kailangan na lang ng isa pang magandang ribbon, at ako 'yun," Sarah Geronimo said.
Bonaobra eventually chose to be part of Team Apl, joining Mecerdita Quiachon, Bradley Holmes, Jannet Cadayona, Mark Cando and Samantha Felizco.
Team Sarah has eight members: Mark Douglas Dagal, Carol Leus, Daniel Ombao, Demie Fresco, Jason James Dy, Kokoi Baldo, Monique Lualhati, and Vanessa Monot.
Team Lea, meanwhile, has seven members on her team: Charlie Catbagan, Nino Alejandro, singing chemist Philippe Go, Jose Manuel Cubil, Leah Patricio, Miro Valera, and Timothy Pavino.
Kamp Kawayan added a new member, Mojofly vocalist Lougee Basabas, who joins Shaira Cervancia, Ramonne Rodriguez, Dang Del Rosario, Kai Honasan, Karlo Mojica, Rence Rapanot, and Tanya Diaz.
